2 New Crochet Patterns & Beginner Quilting Tutorials

It's Granny Time

Granny Rectangles. Have you ever made one? I'm hooked now, they are fun to make and love the different shape. If you have wanted to try this type of granny but was never sure how to get started with the stitch count, I got you. See the basic rectangle tutorial first. Then move onto the new table runner pattern.

Here's a new pattern for a crochet table runner. The Red Heart yarn is sturdy and makes a great yarn choice. It's reversible and you can adjust the length and width easily. Stitch count and how to customize is included in the post. Plus you can download a free pdf pattern!

New to Quilting? Start here

Are you new to quilting and don't know where to start? Here we offer step-by-step tutorials to guide you through every part of the quilting process, making it easy to start (and finish!) your own quilts. With a focus on vintage charm and handmade beauty, you’ll find inspiration to create quilts that feel right at home in your space.

Start with these tutorials and make your first quilt top. Start with charm squares and then try half square triangles. Just make a small quilt with two charm packs. Get familiar with your sewing machine and working with fabric. Take breaks when you get frustrated and it doesn't need to be perfect. You will get better the more you do it.

First step, get fabric. You can buy fabric in many different ways. The tutorial below gives you pro tips to shop 4 different places. Start here.

Then pick my free charm square pattern and follow it with the fabric you have. Just make something small for your first try. Keep it simple. Follow this tutorial below on how to use your supplies and cut that fabric. Rotary blades are sharp, be careful and read my tips and tricks.

Then move onto sewing squares together, nesting seams, sewing accurate seam allowance and using your sewing machine.

After you have sewn simple squares together, try making half square triangles. You will use these a lot in future quilt patterns. Go to the Quilt tab and look at the patterns. They are all free and pick the one you think you can make.

I'll share the next steps to the quilt process and corresponding tutorials in the next newsletter. You can do this. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or need help.

Happy Saturday! I had such a great time last weekend up in Northern California at my family reunion. I haven't been with everyone for over 15 years. My close cousins started a group chat so now there are 5 of us that text each other all the time and stay in touch. We are the middle generation cousins and are planning our next get together for early next year. Even though my entire weekend was spent traveling, I felt so great at work this week and had a new pep in my step. I really needed to...

Happy Saturday! I'm flying to Northern California today for a family reunion in downtown Pleasanton. Very excited to see my family, it's been at least 20 years since I last saw everyone together. Family is important, so make sure your not crafting too much and missing out on life! I added scrappy borders to my queen size churn dash big block quilt and just got my cotton batting from Amazon the other day. I'll share the finished quilt and how I added the borders in my next newsletter This is...
